My Beloved Dingy….

The time has finally come, I have parted ways with my bullet-proof 10 foot plastic dingy…

All good things must pass.

This is a very old Walker 10. I am not even sure if they still make these things. I have dragged it up on the rocks and thoroughly abused this tender in every possible way. The plastic hull has held up incredibly well.

dingy for a boat

One of the biggest downsides to a plastic dingy is that – it cannot be collapsed.

This means that when you leave your boat for long spells of time, there is no way to store this inside you boat.

Regarding of where you live, this could lead to thievery. We are blessed with sturdy locks on the door at the marina, however, there is no way to predict who might swim up in the middle of the night and paddle off with your dingy.

I now own an inflatable dingy that will fit very easily in the quarter berth of my sailboat.

Of course this means I need to keep my eye out for sharp rocks when coming into shallow water.

Believe it or not, I was able to sell this old dingy for 300$ on Craigslist. Five years ago I first bought the boat for 300$.

They hold their value!
